"Into the Wilderness" at IA&A at Hillyer - 2nd Solo Exhibition

I am completely honored and overjoyed to have been given my 2nd solo art exhibition!

Out of more then 250 submissions, the IA&A at Hillyer gallery in Washington, D.C. selected “Into the Wilderness” for a solo show. YAY!!!! This is wonderful and yet bitter-sweet as I won’t be showing “Into the Wilderness” as a complete series in the DMV (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) region for a long time.

So, come on out and bring your friends and family. I hope to see you there!

Celebrating Black History at LMI

It was such an honor and privilege to have participated in the “Celebrating Black History” event at LMI on February 14th! How fitting that it occured on valentine’s day because I love discussing and hearing others’ perspectives on black history - especially arts and artists focused on black culture and love. This event was sponsored by LMI’s Minorities Ethnicities (ME) group, and it was a spectacular event!

The artists panel, with artist “B/UE ROBIN” and “Donavan Lyons” as well as myself, responded to thought-provoking and provocative questions from the audience. It was a great discussion, with a few fun activities sprinkled in. Upon conclusion of the panel discussion, artists and attendees were directed to another room that displayed a full-on art exhibition of works by the featured artists. Here are just a handeful of photos from the event.

My First Solo Art Exhibition - "Into the Wilderness"

About “Into the Wilderness”

Our lives are like a "wilderness" journey that is often filled with hurts, fears, confusion, and loneliness - seeming to overtake us at times; we've all experienced these at various points in our lives. My aspiration, through "Into the Wilderness," is to give viewers hope by sharing with the world how we can avoid being consumed by trials in the wilderness, because we can have comfort knowing we are not alone and that we are unconditionally loved by God.  It's my desire that these Biblically representational and allegorical works cause viewers to dig deeper – to want to know more, to seek answers, and to strike a spiritual chord within that lasts long after my art is out of view.
